Batten down the hatches, sound the alarms, raise the white flag. NASCAR’s most popular driver is currently sponsorless for 13 races this season, and if a sponsor isn’t found and signed before the summer months the No. 88 Chevrolet may be a blank billboard at some point in 2013.
Obviously I am being sarcastic. Don’t believe even for a second that Dale Earnhardt Jr. (10-time most popular driver) and Hendrick Motorsports (10-time Sprint Cup Series championships) will live with the embarrassment of a blank race car. In the offseason Pepsi Co. decided to decrease the amount of races they would spend on the side of Earnhardt’s car, this left a gap of 13 races that have yet to be filled, but it’s not really a case of Hendrick and company not being able to find a sponsor, it’...
