SABRES RUMORS & GOSSIP

Kevin Freiheit: Miller's destination...

Not much going on in regards to Sabres news other than the re-signing of John Scott. I've been waiting for him to score a goal and I really hope he does next season. I'm not a big fan of Scott, but he'll fight and bring up the team toughness. I hate that the Sabres are quiet right now, but now it's back to waiting. Waiting for them to make another move....

Sabres re-sign John Scott to deal

The Sabres acquired Scott by signing him to a one-year contract in free agency last summer to add size and grit to their roster. He split the 2011-12 season with Chicago and the New...

The Pegula Story Nobody Wants to Talk Abou

Terry Pegula bought the Buffalo Sabres in January of 2011 for $189 million. There were reports that another bid was higher previously, but that buyer would have moved the Sabres out of Buffalo (report here). While the Sabres leaving Buffalo may not have been a real option, Pegula did save the Sabres franchise, and the surrounding community, in a way. By keeping the Sabres in...

Props to Jhonas Enroth and Team Sweden. They are the 2013 IIHF World Hockey Champions. The Swiss entered the gold medal game in Stockholm with an 8-0 record in the tourney. Remember when playoff hockey was in Buffalo?

Am I the only one who misses playoff hockey in Buffalo? It's not often one can wear shorts heading into the First Niagara Center with a hockey game to go to. Then again, I don't think the Sabres could compete in a 7 game series with most of these playoff teams. There's plenty of work to do. About two months from now, the 2013-14 schedule will be released, and I cannot...

Sabres have trade chips on the wings

It’s a time of turnover in Hockey Purgatory Heaven with Lindy Ruff getting his walking papers while Jordan Leopold, Jason Pominville and Robyn Regehr each were shipped out of town before the deadline. It appears as if this summer will bring about more change via the trade market for the Sabres as they continue their rebuild. One key for the Sabres will be finding partners...

Don’t blame Miller: Poor defense led to Sabres lack of Goaltending

The Buffalo Sabres goaltending situation is as tenuous as can be after a rocky season that watched the Sabres fire long-time head coach Lindy Ruff on its way to missing the playoffs for the second-straight year. The Ryan Miller and Jhonas Enroth duo was supposed to be a the pairing that solidified Buffalo’s net. Unfortunately for the Sabres, Miller was peppered with shots all...

Shedding the “Interim” Coat in Buffalo

The Buffalo Sabres decided it was prime time for Interim Coach Ron Rolston to lose his “interim” coat and officially be the Sabres’ head coach in the 2013-2014 season. Grading the Sabres: 2013 report card

A fired coach, traded captain, booing fans and missing the playoffs typically doesn’t not make for a very successful season. That was certainly the case for the 2013 Buffalo Sabres. While there were a few bright spots amongst the doom and gloom, the lockout shortened season is certainly one to forget for the Sabres. Before shutting the door completely I wanted to grade out...

Projected 2014 Buffalo Sabres Roster: The Wingers

After the centers were announced on Wednesday, it’s time to get into the men who flank the pivots. The Sabres aren’t too deep at wing in the system, and they get a bit thinner heading into 2013/2014. It’s time to decide who stays and who goes on the outside. Again, this is based on who’s in the system and doesn’t consider who the team may bring in via trade and/or free...
