Gilliland had an underfunded car, no big-name sponsor, but he still found a way to dig deep and hold off guys like Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle. Since that day Gilliland has become one of the more interesting underdog stories in the Sprint Cup Series.
