Jeff Burton has steadfastly believed he would drive the No. 31 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing in 2013. The veteran driver recently told reporters that he never worried about being replaced by Kurt Busch or any other driver for next season. “I never worried about being replaced,” Burton said Tuesday during a Charlotte Motor Speedway media day at the RCR shop. “I never woke up in the morning saying, ‘Damn, I might not drive the 31 car next year.’ Those comments should come as little surprise to anyone who has followed Burton’s career in NASCAR. Burton has struggled the last two seasons. He is currently 19th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings after finishing 20th last season. The last time Burton visited victory lane in the series was the fall race at Charlotte in 2008.
