COREY PERRY RUMORS & GOSSIP

That Time $2.5M Prevented Perry From Being An Oiler

It was December 2013, and the Edmonton Oilers and then GM Kevin Lowe were in the midst of a contract dispute with a rising young forward. An extension was looking unlikely and with the deadline for re-signing RFA’s soon approaching the Oilers had to make a deal or have the player sit out a year. Lowe searched for a deal, found one but then made a odd request. He commanded that...

Video: Erik Johnson’s dirty check levels Corey Perry

Erik Johnson was lucky to escape with just a two-minute penalty after boarding Corey Perry late in the third period of his team’s 3-0 win over the Ducks. As Perry played the puck, Johnson hit him square in the numbers and sent him flying into the boards by the bench. Brutal hit. Also worth noting is the rather tame response by the Ducks following the play.

Anaheim Ducks: Dilemma on defense as Vatanen returns

Corey Perry sealed the deal for a Ducks victory on Friday night with his overtime breakaway goal on Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov. His breakaway came off of a great poke check play by defenseman Sami Vatanen. Vatanen came from behind Avalanche defenseman Brad Stuart and poked the puck off his stick at the Anaheim blue line. Perry jumped on the loose puck and buried it at the...

Corey Perry is currently in the second year of his eight-year, $69 million contract with the Anaheim Ducks. With Perry locked up through 2020-2021, it’s pretty difficult to imagine him in a different uniform. However, only a couple years ago Perry considered joining the Toronto Maple Leafs. The LA Times recently spoke with Perry and it’s clear that he’s happy with the decision...
