Many would consider the 20-point cushion for Brad Keselowski enough to go ahead and crown him the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion. And with the way he’s running this year and turning in strong finishes at tracks he usually struggles at, why wouldn’t you etch his name on the trophy? He’s been clutch and running like a champion each week. All he has to do Sunday is finish 17th or better and he wins the title. That’s if Jimmie Johnson wins the race and leads the most laps. That may be easier said than done, though. Keselowski has statistically struggled in Homestead in only having only one top 15 finish, a 13th-place run back in 2010. He has three finishes of 20th or worse in his other four starts there. With only finishing ahead of his magic number of 17th once, Keselowski knows how important the race is on Sunday and that it’s far from over. Look at what happened to Johnson on Sunday in Phoenix. A tire could go down at any given time, and if that happens to Keselowski on Sunday then the title would  likely go to Johnson for the sixth time. Nothing is guaranteed in sports and anything could happen at any given time. Look at what happened in IndyCar as recently as September 15th in this year’s finale. Will Power, a Penske driver, had the title all but clinched. All he had to do was finish in the top five and the championship was his. He qualified and ran near Ryan Hunter-Reay in the beginning stages but lost control of his car and crashed in the Turn 2 wall. That could happen on Sunday. With Keselowski’s struggles at Homestead and Johnson being so good under pressure, don’t for a second think this title is over.
