Richmond, VA – Tommy Baldwin Racing headed north to Richmond International Raceway for some short track racing under the lights Saturday night.
Starting off the weekend, the No. 7 SANY America Chevy SS team prepared for a full day of practice and qualifying on Friday. After making several changes to the car during the two practice sessions, Blaney was ready for qualifying. Starting 18th (his best start of the 2013 season) for Saturday’s Toyota Owners 400, Blaney was ready for 400 laps of intense racing.
As the race began, Blaney remained mid-pack, fighting to gain positions and momentum. Throughout the race, long green flag runs gave the team an opportunity to strategize about the adjustments needed to make for later in the race.
With 100 laps to go, several quick cautions allowed for Blaney to gain track position. However a caution late in the race set up the field for a green, white, checkered finish and left teams with the decision to pit or not. Crew chief Tommy Baldwin made the...
