Vince McMahon made shocking admission to Jon Moxley in their last meeting

Before Jon Moxley worked for Tony Khan, he was a big name in WWE. Working under the "Dean Ambrose" screen name, Moxley was part of "The Shield" — a popular faction at the time. So, when he teamed up with AEW, it was seen as a significant coup.

Since then, Moxley has become a major draw for AEW. Blending his brutal wrestling style and experienced mic work, Moxley has helped elevate the brand. He has also become one of the most dependable stars on the roster.

When CM Punk was suspended after All Out 2022, Moxley carried the interim championship. Moxley was among the leading voices when there was a potential mutiny inside the locker room. Moxley is a leader in a young and upcoming promotion. 

When speaking during a recent appearance on the "Bleav in Pro Wrestling" podcast, Moxley noted how reliability can sometimes be taken for granted. The veteran star noted how Vince McMahon admitted WWE had been guilty of taking him for granted during his time with the company.

"We take a lot of pride in our work and our work ethic and our standard that we set ourselves to and the way we do a job," Moxley said — h/t to WrestlingNews.co for the transcription. "To be one of those guys, that's like, reliable, kind of always there. The downside is it's very easy to take you for granted. The last conversation I had with Vince McMahon, like real conversation, straight up told me, 'We took you for granted.'"

AEW leans heavily on it's veteran talent. Moxley, Bryan Danielson and Chris Jericho are seen at almost every show. However, there's an upside to AEW's methods. 

Younger talent can learn from being around some of the greats. They can see how to work the mic or get the crowd involved. And, they can feud with those stars to improve their own profile and "persona" — the current Ricky Starks storyline with the "Blackpool Combat Club" being a prime example.
