Swerve Strickland is preparing to take some hard shots from Samoa Joe.

On April 21, Swerve Strickland will receive another opportunity to capture the AEW World Championship. Following his triple threat title match at AEW Revolution, Strickland will now face the current champion, Samoa Joe, one-on-one at AEW Dynasty. Before he officially challenges for the title again, though, Strickland was recently asked (via Rick Ucchino on iHeart Radio) to describe the experience of being in the ring with the ever-aggressive Samoa Joe.

“Words truly can’t describe it,” Strickland said. “It’s more like actions and pictures. I tell you what, last week [on AEW Dynamite], that contract signing, I’ve never been hit that hard by anybody else in my life. I’ve been wrestling for 15 years, and I’ve been up against some heavy hitters. Joe was probably one of the most punishing beatdowns I’ve ever received. And this is coming after I faced off against him in the triple-threat match for the world title.”

“Now, there’s one-on-one focus. All the attention is on me. All my attention is on him. There’s a lot of punishment that’s going to be inflicted both ways. And you just saw a preview of what I can do just last night on Dynamite here in West Virginia.”

Strickland Plans To Get Right Back Up

While Strickland is expecting to absorb even more hard hits from Samoa Joe at AEW Dynasty, he asserts that they won’t keep him down for long.

“I’m not afraid. I’ve been hit hard, and I’ve gotten back up every single time. That’s what I got to continue to do,” Strickland said. “I got to keep getting back up and keep jumping into this man’s face, showing them that I’m not afraid of them and that I’m willing to hit just as hard, if not harder … Like I said, it doesn’t get easier. As it gets closer, and the higher you go, it gets harder. And Joe’s going to hit harder just to keep that championship. He’s been doing a fantastic job.”
