AEW's Serena Deeb is hoping to get back in the ring after dealing with seizures that have forced her to miss over a year of time competing.

Serena Deeb signed with AEW in September 2020 after having made a handful of appearances with the company. The following month, she captured the NWA Women's World Championship, which she defended at AEW events. Deeb's most recent match was on the October 18, 2022, edition of AEW Dark: Elevation in a match that saw Deeb defeat Haley J.

Serena Deeb on Her Seizures

It was reported back in September that Deeb had heat within AEW, which some took as a possible reason for why she hasn't been used on TV. In a social media post this week, however, the veteran explained why she hasn't competed in over a year.

I’ve had a series of three unprovoked seizures. You this has been a really traumatic time period for me. It’s affected my career, and it’s affected my life in a lot of ways. It’s been really scary for me. I’ve seen a lot of different doctors. I’ve had every test imaginable, and for the longest time, nobody could tell me why this happened.

Deeb said being out of the ring has been "really challenging" and has spent her time learning more about seizures and how more common they are than she first realized. Deeb also had some good news to share.

"It’s really good news. It’s great news. I saw my neurologist recently, and he told me that I’ve recovered, I’m healthy, and I am officially cleared to wrestle. That means I am ready to return.”
