Report: Internal Reaction To Vince McMahon’s Resignation From TKO, WWE
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Vince McMahon‘s resignation from TKO and WWE sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world. A new report provided an update on the internal reaction to the news.

On January 25, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, alleging sexual assault and trafficking. The next day, McMahon announced his resignation from WWE and TKO. In his statement, he continued to deny the allegations, and he stated that he would defend himself against them.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that the internal response to Vince McMahon’s resignation was a combination of relief and happiness, depending on who one asked. Johnson writes that some felt that McMahon got what was coming to him, based on Grant’s allegations in the lawsuit.

Additionally, Johnson notes that there was a feeling that more dominoes would fall after Slim Jim paused their sponsorship of WWE, and that McMahon would be left with no choice but to exit. However, it was said that McMahon’s resignation came much faster than anyone expected.

Some In WWE Hope Vince’s Exit Could Lead To Stephanie McMahon’s Return

Johnson’s report also notes that some in WWE are glad that Vince McMahon has distanced himself from the company. He was described as a “black cloud hanging over everything”, even when he was not directly involved.

Per Johnson, some in the company hope this outcome could potentially open the door for Stephanie McMahon to return. However, others pointed to the changes since the Endeavor deal as a sign that it was difficult to tell how Stephanie would fit back in.

Lastly, Johnson writes that there is a belief that Endeavor may “sweep out” those who are close to Vince McMahon and his remaining team in the hopes of essentially having a clean slate.

A spokesperson for McMahon has said that Janel Grant’s lawsuit is “replete with lies.” More information is available here.
