Pro Wrestling NOAH has provided an injury update on Kota Ibushi.
Kota Ibushi faced Naomichi Marufuji at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s ‘The New Year 2024’ event on January 2. As reported by Sports Hochi in Japan, Ibushi was taken to the hospital, as it was believed that he severely injured his ankles. Ibushi attempted to wrestle through an injury, and while he completed the match, he struggled to stand after the bell.
In a press release, NOAH announced that Kota Ibushi has been diagnosed with “a right tibiofibular ligament tear and a right ankle lateral ligament complex injury as a result of a more thorough examination than his initial diagnosis.” The press release notes that Ibushi is scheduled to undergo another detailed examination of his left leg, and he will concentrate on treatment.
NOAH also apologized for “any inconvenience and concern this may cause our fans and other concerned parties as we ask for their cooperation and understanding in light of the situation.”
Ibushi also announced that he would be having ankle surgery.
WrestleZone wishes Ibushi well in his recovery, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
At NOAH The New Year, it was evident that Kota Ibushi was working through an injury. His performance was the source of some criticism, and he subsequently took to social media to apologize. He also stated that he had been scammed by a clinic ahead of the bout.
