Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show in WWE, has been named in the Biogenesis investigation from 2013.

In 2023, the federal government’s “Operation Strikeout” Biogenesis investigation resulted in the convictions of Tony Bosch, among several others. The controversy rocked the baseball world, but it included other sports as well.

Mike Fish of ESPN reports that, per unredacted investigative documents, various other athletes were investigated in the infamous doping investigation. Per Fish, in the 1,400 pages of documents, Paul Wight, also known as “The Big Show, and other athletes were linked to Biogenesis.

Per the documents, in a 2014 interview, Bosch discussed treating Wight in 2009-10. Bosch claimed that he was introduced to Wight by his then-partner, Jorge “Ugi” Velazquez. According to Bosch, Velazquez was “giving Wight additional performance-enhancing drugs.” Bosch also said that Wight noted that wrestlers desired stronger substances, and Bosch later stopped treating wrestlers. He said he saw Wight a few more times, and Velasquez continued to treat wrestlers.

Paul Wight Denies Taking PEDs

According to Fish, speaking through his attorney, Paul Wight confirmed that Bosch and Velazquez were at a large gathering at his house, and he only met Bosch one time otherwise. Brennan stated that Wight never failed a drug test, and his endocrine system disorder made any potential involvement with performance-enhancing drugs a serious risk.

“Paul never treated with Bosch,” Brennan said. “Paul never took any PEDs from Ugi or anyone else. He is as clean as you can be. More importantly, he would never take any PEDs because of his underlying medical condition.”

Wight signed with AEW in 2021, and he recently made an appearance at AEW All In.
