As part of his re-election campaign, London mayor Sadiq Khan is hoping to bring WWE WrestleMania to the United Kingdom for the first time ever.

Khan has said that, if re-elected on May 2, he will start a task force to bring more sports from the United States to the city. He wants London to host WrestleMania, the Super Bowl, and NBA games, along with hoping to have the Olympics in London again.

“I believe that London has the potential to host the first international WrestleMania," Khan said.

It doesn't seem like an international WrestleMania is in WWE's immediate plans. Company president Nick Khan stated last week that WWE has decided its big five PLEs (WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank) should be in the United States or Canada. The goal is for WWE's other PLEs to take place from international locations.

WrestleMania 40 was held in Philadelphia earlier this month. The location for WrestleMania 41 has not been announced yet.

WWE's upcoming international PLEs are Backlash (May 4 in France), King & Queen of the Ring (May 25 in Saudi Arabia), Clash at the Castle (June 15 in Scotland), and Bash in Berlin (August 31 in Germany).

London's O2 Arena did host Money in the Bank last year. During the show, John Cena made a surprise appearance and advocated for WrestleMania to be brought to London.

Sadiq Khan has been London's mayor since 2016.
