Dustin Rhodes is thrilled to see Mercedes Moné in AEW.

After months of speculation, Mercedes Moné made her official AEW debut on the March 13 episode of “AEW Dynamite,” which was specially dubbed “Big Business.” During a recent interview with Sports Guys Talking Wrestling, AEW coach Dustin Rhodes recalled the thunderous ovation Moné received in her AEW debut, which took place before her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.

“There’s a big thing when we’re backstage and we know somebody’s about to debut. We’re all there and we want to watch this big debut, especially with a caliber talent as Mercedes. Her music hit, it was deafening,” Rhodes said. “The Boston crowd, they’re always like that, but that’s her home. She’s from Boston, she loves Boston, born and raised. That crowd just blew the lid off of that place. It was great to see that, great to hear that, and I’m happy for her.”

Upon her arrival, Moné vowed to create some more magical moments for the fans, as well as the AEW’s women’s division. For Rhodes, the addition of Mercedes Moné is nothing but a positive for the AEW women’s division, and for the company as a whole. And given her extensive resume in promotions such as WWE, NJPW, and on the indies, Rhodes is particularly excited to see what Moné will bring forth to AEW now.

“She came in because of our women’s division because our women’s division has gotten so good to have all these like dream matches that she could set up and have with all of our talent, it’s just incredible. I can’t wait to watch her journey here,” Rhodes said. “I’ve watched her journey from day one, I’ve always been a big fan. I love her to death. [Her] coming into AEW is only going to do big business for us.”
