IMPACT Wrestling officially had its rebranding in 2017. The former TNA adopted its new name in January 2017. TNA pay-per-views also underwent a major overhaul as part of Anthem’s takeover of the promotion.

The changes, however, didn’t affect in-ring work rate as stars such as Lashley, Eddie Edwards, and Sonjay Dutt delivered blockbuster matches. With that being said, let’s take a look at some of the best IMPACT Wrestling PPV matches of 2017:

Dezmond Xavier vs. Taiji Ishimori (Destination X 2017)

Dezmond Xavier and Taiji Ishimore collide in the Super X 2017 final at Destination X special event on August 17, 2017. This was a fast-paced match-up between two of the best cruiserweights in the business at the time.

Xavier picked up the win over Ishimore. He would have a solid run in IMPACT Wrestling with Zachary Wentz as his tag team partner. For those wondering, Dezmond Xavier is current NXT superstar Wes Lee.

Four-Way Tag Team Match (Slammiversary XV)

This match featured Drago and El Hijo del Fantasma versus Garza Jr. and Laredo Kid versus Naomichi Marufuji and Taiji Ishimori versus Ortiz and Santana. Pitting the four teams against each other was a bold decision and it paid off.

These eight men delivered an incredible Slammiversary opener. The fast-paced action really set the tone for the rest of the night. In the end, Latin American Exchange (Santana and Ortiz) bested other teams to win the tag team titles.

Alberto El Patron vs. Lashley (IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary XV)

Lashley’s dominancy over the IMPACT Zone was challenged by none other than Albert El Patron. The former Del Rio challenged the powerhouse for the world title at Slammiversary XV pay-per-view event.

This turned out to be a solid match between two students of the game. Del Rio was pushed heavily in WWE and IMPACT did the same when they crowned him the new champion at their big PPV event.

Sonjay Dutt vs. Low-Ki (IMPACT X Division Title Best 2 Out of 3 Falls Match – Slammiversary XV)

Sonjay Dutt and Low-Ki solidified themselves as the benchmark for the X Division title in 2017. The pair collided for Dutt’s title in a Best 2 Out of 3 Falls Match at the 15th annual Slammiversary PPV event.

Both men did a great job selling each other’s offense. Dutt, being the babyface underdog, had the crowd support behind him. Low-Ki looked tremendous as the aggressive heel with no regard for his opponent.

Lashley vs. Eddie Edwards (TNA World Title 30 Minute Iron Man Match – Genesis)

It is safe to say that 2017 was the year of Lashley in IMPACT Wrestling. The powerhouse ran roughshod through his opponents. His performance week in and out spoke volumes about his tremendous work rate.

Lashley had one of the best IMPACT Wrestling PPV quality matches at Genesis TV special. The pair collided in a 30-minute Iron Man Match for the TNA World Title. This was an exceptional bout from start to finish, which saw Lashley defeat Edwards for the championship.
