Indian men’s tennis star Rohan Bopanna added yet another feather to his cap as the 44-year-old won the men’s doubles title alongside Australia’s Matthew Ebden at the 2024 Miami Open. The Indo-Australian pair of Bopanna and Ebden beat Croatia’s Ivan Dodig and American Austin Krajicek, 6-7(3) 6-3 10-6 in 1 hour and 41 minutes.

This is the second title of the 2024 season for Bopanna and Ebden who also won their maiden Grand Slam title in Melbourne a few weeks back. The Indo-Australian pair staged a terrific comeback despite losing the first set in the tiebreaker.

Bopanna and Eden showed no signs of nervousness and won the next two sets with dominance. The pair was elated after the win and so was the crowd at the stadium. After Bopanna and Ebden completed the victory, the crowd applauded them. The players also thanked them in return.

Rohan Bopanna embracing the late success

44-year-old Rohan Bopanna was nothing but elated at this win in Miami. The Indian tennis star thanked Matthew Ebden for helping him win such big titles. Bopanna talked about the communication the two players establish on the court and how it helps them stay calm in pressure situations.

After that, Bopanna talked about the importance of hard work. The 44-year-old claimed that no one can achieve anything in any field if they don’t work hard. The Indian ace also talked about his feelings about reaching the top of the rankings. Notably, Bopanna will reach the helm after this win in Miami.

I think that is what everyone plays for, they want to be at the highest level and want to play at the top. When you win a tournament and you reach the top of the rankings, you’re the best in the world. It’s a beautiful moment and you know, those 20-30 years of hard work you have put into is the reason why I am enjoying it right now and I’m really happy. Without hard work. I don’t think anything for anyone in any field is possible. Rohan Bopanna said after the title win in Miami. (H/T: Miami Open)

Notably, Bopanna and Ebden joined hands at the start of the 2023 season and it seems to be working pretty well. The pair won the title in Doha and Indian Wells last year. This season, Bopanna and Ebden have started the season on a high with big titles. It is to be seen where the pair reaches by the end of the season.
