Rafael Nadal confirmed to still play in 2022 at Paris Masters and ATP Finals
Peter van den Berg-USA TODAY Sports

The last few months were not ideal for Rafael Nadal, who was forced to withdraw from his semifinal clash with Nick Kyrgios at Wimbledon.

Then, the 22-time Grand Slam champion was stunned by Borna Coric in the second round of Cincinnati Masters and subsequently lost to Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round of the US Open. Rafael Nadal then withdrew from the Laver Cup after he played doubles alongside retiring Roger Federer. After he welcomed first son, his further participation in 2022 was unsure.

Following a few weeks of uncertainty, Carlos Moya, Rafael Nadal's coach, revealed that the Spaniard is now preparing for the 2022 Paris Masters and he should also compete in Turin at the 2022 ATP Finals.

However, he will not play at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga as the 22-time Grand Slam champion was missing on the squad list revealed today. Nadal still has a chance to finish this year as world no. 1 ahead of his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz, but the teenager has an advantage of more than 600 points and plays one additional ATP 500 event in Basel.
