American tennis legend Andre Agassi has made his pick for the players he loves to watch and is excited about. The 53-year-old who is an icon himself took a few names and interestingly, Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion who is actively competing on the tour was not among those names. Agassi said he is most excited to watch Carlos Alcaraz.

The former American tennis ace loves the energy Alcaraz brings to the tennis court. Agassi also talked about newly-crowned Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner. The American legend says that he loves the way Sinner hits the ball. Agassi also mentioned a rising star in men’s tennis, Ben Shelton for his intensity.

The fourth name on Agassi’s list was of Russian tennis Daniil Medvedev who lost to Sinner in the 2024 Australian Open final. The American legend praised Medvedev for his tennis IQ. Agassi also looked flattered by Medvedev’s style of play.

Just like everyone, I’m loving [Carlos] Alcaraz right now. He brings such an energy. [Jannik] Sinner, I love the way he hits the ball. Watching Ben Shelton come around with his game and intensities. [Daniil] Medvedev, the guy’s tennis IQ is crazy in the way he negotiates the game, and 6’6” and plays the way he does is so remarkable. Andre Agassi said to Wall Street Journal.

What does Andre Agassi say about Novak Djokovic?

While Novak Djokovic could not find a place on the list of players Andre Agassi is excited to watch, the Serbian tennis legend has a special place in Agassi’s heart. The American tennis superstar considers Djokovic as the best player men’s tennis has ever seen.

Agassi, who is himself considered one of the greats of the game, feels numbers don’t lie and Djokovic is way ahead of others on paper.

There are so many ways to look at it, but when you look at it on paper you just can’t argue with what he’s accomplished. The amount that he’s won, the head-to-heads, the Masters (titles), the year-end number ones, the weeks at number… all those stats...When it comes to on paper, I don’t think you can argue against what Novak has done. It is worth mentioning that Novak Djokovic sits atop the list of players with most Grand Slam titles. The Serbian also has the third most number of tour-level titles. Djokovic has won most ATP Finals (8) and is still going strong. Agassi has also joked about the 36-year-old having more Australian Open titles (10) than his career Grand Slam titles.
