'I have no chance against them,' Andre Agassi bets on Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz’s prowess intimidating his on-court heroics
Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

American tennis legend Andre Agassi has talked about his chances against modern-day players like Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz. While Nadal and Alcaraz belong to two different eras of tennis, Agassi comes from an era even before Nadal’s.

The American, who won eight Grand Slam titles in his illustrious career, says that he would not stand a chance against Nadal and Alcaraz. Agassi said that although he was always confident about his athleticism and “geometry” he would not like to challenge players like Nadal and Alcaraz who have a different training regime altogether.

The former World No. 1 said that modern-day greats like Nadal are changing the geometry of the game.

When you really talk about these guys now from a speed standpoint, from a spin standpoint, from technology standpoint, athletic, I mean the science behind their training, I mean they're changing the geometry of the game and one of the things I always counted on was my geometry. Andre Agassi said at the Netflix Slam. (H/T: People)

Agassi further said that while he can dare to to challenge and back himself to beat a few players on the tour currently, there are a few against whom he would not dare to take a chance.

There are a lot of guys out there that I would say I would have inroads against and I would like this challenge, but there's so many that I say no thank you. I have no chance against them. Andre Agassi added.

When Agassi was asked if Nadal and Alcaraz are two players who he’d have no chance against, the former American ace said “Yes, they are”.

Andre Agassi talks about missing the hustle during his playing days

As Andre Agassi mentioned a changed training regime for modern-day players, the 53-year-old was asked if he misses the hustle he had to go through his playing days.

The former World No. 1 said that he does miss the defined goal he had during his playing days. Agassi says he misses that part about his game where he was fully aware of his body.

So you also think back and think to yourself, 'I can't believe what I put myself through.' And so that's an inevitable part," he says, adding, "But actually, if there's anything I miss about the game, it's about knowing your body so well that you actually were driving it like a Ferrari at 3,900 RPMs. Andre Agassi said.

Notably, Andre Agassi was among the fittest players on the tour during his playing days. The 53-year-old was known for his dedication to keeping his body in shape. The American legend once confessed about being in the gym till four in the morning.
