'I didn’t cheat, I didn’t dope,' Simona Halep slaps right back at Caroline Wozniacki’s Miami Open wildcard opinion
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Two-time Grand Slam winner Simona Halep recently made her much-awaited return to tennis after having been on the sidelines for almost 15 months. She received a wildcard entry into the Miami Open, thereby getting back in action.

Halep was received well by the fans and other tennis players, although a few did raise eyebrows. Caroline Wozniacki was one player who did not find it fair for Halep to return after being found half guilty. The Dane shared her personal opinion on this matter, where she stood by her opinion about doping and also spread the value of a clean game.

Not directly attacking Halep, she stated that she didn’t want organizations to be handing out wildcards for players who have cheated in the game. Halep addressed the same in her recent interview, and the Romanian slapped right back at Wozniacki.

The Romanian said via the Miami Press:

I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't cheat. I didn't dope. So it's better if we read the decision from CAS that it was a contaminated supplement, it wasn't doping. Simona Halep said

Halep stood right on her case and defended herself, stating that she did not cheat. Furthermore, Halep firmly asserted that she was not a cheater, and told the respective person to view the statement of the CAS. The 32-year-old stood her ground about not cheating and even thanked the tournament for providing a wildcard.

Simona Halep took an indirect dig at Wozniacki while replying to the comments made on her

In a war of words, Simona Halep took a sly shot at Caroline Wozniacki, who shared her opinions about Halep’s comeback in a recent press meet. Though she did not directly mention Halep, the whole cause was hovered upon, to which the Romanian had to give a few answers.

Halep was very straightforward with her answer as she stood her ground while thanking the organizations for their amazing support. Furthermore, she also took a dig at Wozniacki. Here is what she had to say:

Only one person being negative about me is not that important because I have hundreds of people that are giving me love, so I will take that. Simona Halep said

Rightly so, Halep received loads of love from the fans as she made her comeback, which was rather short-lived. Despite a great start, she was up against Paula Badosa in the first round, and she lost in three sets. Things went smoothly for her in the first set but soon lost momentum before losing the match in the final set.
