Andy Murray Confirms 2024 Could Be Last Year Of His Tennis Career

Andy Murray has been one to deny any rumors about his retirement vehemently, but he admitted that this could be his last season.

Andy Murray spent much of his life in tennis and gave so much to this sport. He's giving more than a good chunk of the other players. There aren't a lot of tennis players that would be still playing if they went through what he did.

Because of that, it's quite clear that he hasn't got a lot of time left. In fact, and he's admitted to this before, one bad injury could end it all. In that sense, Murray understands that this could be really it for him.

This last offseason, which wasn't the best, could really be his last. He talked about all of that to BBC Sport.

If I was in a situation like I was at the end of last year, then I probably wouldn't go again. But then if physically I'm doing well and my results are good and I'm playing well, then that's enjoyable and I could see myself still playing.

Obviously, there is no conviction in Murray's tone because he simply doesn't know. The amount of time he'll spend on the court in the coming weeks and months will largely depend on how things go.

If he's playing well and feeling well, he'll keep playing because he still enjoys it. If he's not playing well and his body is not giving him the right signals, then he'll just accept that it's over and hang it up.

It literally comes down to how things go, and that's one of the reasons why 2024 can be his last season on the ATP Tour.

'We'll see how the year goes, see how the body holds up. If things are going well, I'd love to keep going. But if they're not, and I'm not enjoying it, it could be the last year, yes.
