Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

American tennis legend Andre Agassi was named the inaugural chair of Life Time’s newly formed Pickleball and Tennis Board. Life Time Founder, Chairman and CEO, Bahram Akradi appointed Agassi as the first chairman of the board to elevate the profile, programming, leagues, and community of tennis and pickleball. Akradi will serve as the co-chair of the board.

Notably, Agassi has been working closely to promote pickleball (Agassi played at the Pickleball Slam 2 with his wife Steffi Graf and against John McEnroe & Maria Sharapova) and thus, the eight-time Grand Slam champion has been given the responsibility to further elevate the level of the sport in the country.

Bahram Akradi is pretty impressed with Agassi’s impressive portfolio as a tennis player and wants to utilize the 53-year-old’s experience to popularize pickleball among the people of the United States. Akradi said that he feels honored to have Agassi on the board and is optimistic about a revolution.

I have enjoyed Andre's illustrious career for more than four decades. He continues to be an inspiration to me and millions of others, both on and off the court. As a long-time friend and business partner, having Andre lead our Life Time Pickleball and Tennis Board is a true honor. Together, I foresee endless possibilities for the impact we will have in the racquet community. Bahram Akradi said. (H/T: PR Newswire)

What will be Andre Agassi’s role as the chairman?

As Andre Agassi gets ready to serve as the inaugural chairman of the Life Time’s Pickleball and Tennis Board, the 53-year-old is expected to fulfill a few big responsibilities. As per the statement released by LifeTime, Agassi is expected to make pickleball and other racket sports accessible to people from every age group.

The 53-year-old also needs to create a bridge between all types of racket sports by building on the power of community to create a sense of camaraderie among all racquet sports enthusiasts, fostering connections both on and off the court.

The third major task for Agassi will be to collaborate with expert coaches and tailor innovative programs, clinics, events, and tournaments. Agassi says he is ready for the challenge as the former tennis ace sees potential in pickleball.

I strongly support the ongoing growth of tennis and pickleball and could not be more excited to partner with Bahram and Life Time as we work to elevate these sports as staple element for millions of people living healthy, active and happy lives. Andre Agassi said.

While there is no doubt about Andre Agassi’s skills on the court, itis to be seen how the tennis superstar serves as an administrator.
