Former USMNT star Eric Wynalda is surprised by Leeds United's decision to sack manager Jesse Marsch.

The American coach has lost his job at the Elland Road club with immediate effect.

Marsch was backed in the January transfer window, but has been fired days after its closing.

"This is a result driven business first and foremost and this decision is a reflection of that," Marsch's compatriot told Action Network.

"However, the club's more recent moves, including adding a new member on the staff and McKennie during the window, make this abrupt change puzzling.

"You can't help but think that the Everton result vs Arsenal had everything to do with this move. They may want a familiar face.

Someone that is familiar with the plight of a relegation battle. A manager who fully understands the ingredients necessary to survive in the Premier League. This is the Sean Dyche effect."
