Tottenham Hotspur are yet to appoint a quality longtime replacement for manager Antonio Conte who was relieved of his duties earlier this season.

Cristian Stellini was chosen as the interim replacement, but a series of disappointing results have forced the North London giants to part ways with him and appoint former midfielder Ryan Mason as the caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Reacting to these developments, former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has now revealed that he would be willing to come in and help Tottenham alongside Ryan Mason in a coaching capacity.

He also claimed that it would be a dream come true for him to manage the club. Defoe was a fan favourite at the club during his playing days and he is admired by the fans.

“There are rumours going around that you might do a good job with the first team at Spurs. Is that something you’d think about?”, Defoe was asked on Outside the box podcast.

“100 per cent. It’s a club I love, a club I played for for nine years. It would be a dream come true,” he said.

“I do know Ryan, I’ve not spoken to him yet. It would be a dream come true, it’s not just any club, to get the opportunity to help at first-team level, from now until the end of the season the games are important. To get that experience in my coaching career would be massive”.

Currently, there are no plans to appoint the former striker to support Mason, and it remains to be seen whether Levy is willing to bring him in some capacity to boost the morale of the side and the fans.

The 40-year-old knows the club well and he will be able to relate to the frustrations of the fans. He could prove to be a wise appointment in the short term and Defoe could help unite the players and the fanbase.

With Champions League qualification at stake, Tottenham cannot afford to slip up anymore and they will need to win their remaining games this season.
