England have paid their respects to one of the nation’s greatest footballing icons, Sir Bobby Charlton, ahead of the team’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Malta this evening.

It’s the first chance that supporters and the squad have had the chance to gather at Wembley and pay their respects to the Manchester United and England hero.

He played a pivotal role in lifting the Three Lions’ first – and only – World Cup trophy in 1966.

Sir Bobby is England’s third all-time top goalscorer, having registered a remarkable 49 goals in his 106 caps for his country.

Players from both teams surrounded the centre circle to hold a minute’s applause, while a ‘Sir Bobby’ tifo was revealed in the crowd.

A touching tribute to a truly special inspiration.
