Roma icon Francesco Totti delivered a stinging comment when discussing Paulo Dybala, but offered a more positive remark on Romelu Lukaku.

The 47-year-old is widely recognized as the biggest name in the history of the capital club. Since his controversial departure in 2017, no Giallorossi star has inherited his Number 10 jersey.

Nevertheless, some argued that Dybala could be deserving of the honor.

The Argentine signed for the club as a free agent in the summer of 2022 when Juventus opted against renewing his contract.

La Joya swiftly cemented himself as Roma’s main talisman. Many felt that La Magica hit the jackpot by snatching his services for free. It is almost as if you get 100 free spins no deposit NZ at Kiwi-friendly online casinos.

However, recurring injury problems continue to blight the career of one of the Italian’s top-flight’s most elusive talents.

Therefore, Totti believes that the management must be cautious when reflecting on the Argentine’s future, citing his physical problems.

“Dybala is a top player, but he plays too little,” noted the 2006 World Cup winner in his interview with Il Corriere dello Sport via Calciomercato.

“We are talking about a top player, but it depends on what the club wants to do and what objectives he has.

“If a player plays 15 matches a year, the manager ought to reconsider. If I have an important objective to achieve and I have one of the most important players who plays one-third of the matches, I’d reflect on his future.”

So in other words, Totti blatantly urged his longtime friend Daniele De Rossi to carefully consider whether he would like to maintain Dybala or not.

But as the source notes, the figures that Totti brought up to back his point were obviously exaggerated.

CM thus points out that the 30-year-old only missed six matches through injury this season and appeared in 69% of Roma’s fixtures.

The 2022 World Cup winner has also been the club’s most decisive player this term, contributing with 14 goals and eight assists. Dybala’s deal will expire in the summer of 2025.

But while Totti would be willing to sacrifice Dybala for the reasons mentioned above, he feels that the club must maintain the services of Lukaku

“On the other hand, I would keep Lukaku on a permanent basis.”

The Belgian is currently on loan from Chelsea who would be happy to offload him for the right price.
