Francesco Totti was rumored to return to Roma as an exec a couple of times throughout the José Mourinho era, but the former captain has put the buzz to bed. He dished on Daniele De Rossi during a commercial event (via Corriere dello Sport).

“I didn’t expect him to be so good right away, but I was hopeful. He’s proving to be a great coach. He’s demonstrating his worth in a difficult situation. He knows the city, the club, and the fans well.”

“Therefore, he’s harnessing all that to make the players go out on the pitch with maximum tranquility. He deserves this spotlight and revenge. He always said that he wanted to become a manager and helm the Giallorossi. We last spoke yesterday to chat about a few things. We are organizing a dinner to see each other.”

Torri weighed in on Lorenzo Pellegrini.

“It wasn’t easy to find another captain after myself and Daniele, but I always stated he would be a true one. He’s showing his value, and he can pull off anything on the pitch right now.”

Totti spoke about his own future, although he might have done it in jest to quiet the murmurs.

“I will never return. You ask this question every time. I will no longer come back.”

Totti also commented on the chatter about a potential Roma sale to Saudi investors.

“I gathered info about it, and it’s not true.”
