Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for the French international defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the finest defenders in European football and he has been outstanding for OGC Nice.

According to a report via GFFN, the French outfit has slapped a €60 million (£51.5m) price tag on the defender and the English clubs will have to shell out a premium if they want to sign him.

Tottenham are in desperate need of another quality central defender and Todibo would be a superb acquisition. The North London currently have Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin as the only reliable central defenders at the club. They need to add more depth to that position and Todibo could complete their defensive unit for the foreseeable future.

A move to the Premier League will be an attractive option for the French international defender as well and he is likely to improve further with coaching and experience.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are keen on the player as well and the 24-year-old could be the ideal long-term replacement for Thiago Silva.

It will be interesting to see if the clubs are willing to pay €60 million for the player in the coming months. A move in January is highly unlikely and therefore any transfer would have to wait until the summer window.

Todibo certainly has the qualities to thrive in the Premier League and he could justify the investment in the long run.
