Tottenham ‘keeping an eye on’ 19-year-old Chelsea target who could cost £17.4 million

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for the Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu.

The 19-year-old left-back has impressed with his performances for the Italian club and a number of clubs are thought to be keen on signing him. A report from Tipsbladet claims that Premier League club Chelsea are keen on signing the defender and they will face competition from Tottenham.

Apparently, the two clubs are ‘keeping an eye’ on the left-back, and it remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him during the January transfer window. Apparently, Lecce are not prepared to sanction his departure in January under any circumstances. It will be interesting to see if the likes of Chelsea and Spurs can tempt them with a lucrative offer.

The report claims that the defender is valued at around 150 million kroner which equates to £17.4 million. Tottenham and Chelsea certainly have the financial resources to pay that kind of money for the talented 19-year-old.

He could develop into a key player for them in the coming seasons.

However, Chelsea already have Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen at their disposal. It is highly unlikely that they will splash out on another left-back unless they sell someone in January.

As for Spurs, they have Ryan Sessegon, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie at their disposal. They should prioritise the acquisition of a quality central defender instead.

Dorgu needs to join a club where he will play every week and a move to Spurs or Chelsea might not be suitable for him right now.
