Ex-Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has turned 37 today, so let's look back at some his best moments in the famous red shirt.

El Nino had many great moments for Liverpool so this will be a difficult decision to pick a top five, but tell us what you think in the comments or on Twitter.

5. Spinning a World Cup Winner

Fabio Cannavaro was a world class defender, but some say he's still yet to recover from his nightmare with Torres.

The intelligence to make the 2006 Ballon d'Or winner freeze on the spot was eyebrow-raising. By the time the Italian recovered his senses, El Nino had already fired the ball goal-bound, but Iker Casillas prevented Torres from scoring.

A sensational piece skill that was well deserving of a goal.

Torres couldn't be thwarted for much longer though as he scored once in a 4-0 thumping against Real Madrid in the Champions League in March 2009.

4. Anfield Debut Goal v Chelsea

Liverpool fans quickly found out what their club's purchase of £20 million was really worth, as the former Atletico Madrid captain scored a great debut goal against league rivals Chelsea.

Captain fantastic Steven Gerrard played an outrageous outside the foot pass, perfectly weighted for Torres to run onto. Liverpool's new signing then went on to cut inside, then out, and slotting his a debut home goal past Petr Cech.

3. Embarrassing Vidic at Old Trafford

Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic was one of the best defenders during his time in the Premier League. But, when up against Torres for a bouncing ball in March 2009, he flailed like a fish out of water.

The Serbian was caught in two minds whether to let the ball go over him or head it clear, resulting in El Nino capitalizing on the dreadful defensive error and helped The Reds win a famous 4-1 over Sir Alex's United, in their own back yard.

Great celebration too as he reminded the home supporters of their inferior European title collection.

2. Last Liverpool Brace v Chelsea

During a torrid injury-filled season, Fernando Torres had been questioned whether he was still capable of commanding Liverpool's attack.

The number nine proved his critics wrong as he scored his final two goals for the Reds against soon to be new club, Chelsea.

His second striker was sublime and showed the Torres of old was still there, and it likely made the London club spend a huge £50 million to sign the Spaniard a month later.

He lacked confidence during his time in a Chelsea shirt, but that final strike makes you wonder whether if he'd stayed, could he spark the form of his early days in a Liverpool shirt?

1. Stunning Volley v Blackburn Rovers

On a sun-kissed Anfield pitch, Torres pulled off one of the greatest goals in front of the Anfield Road end.

The Spaniard brought the ball down exquisitely with his chest and then proceeded to volley it, from an impossible angle, up and over the Rovers keeper. Jaw-dropping stuff.

Practically facing The Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand when he struck the ball, El Nino scored a world-class goal by a player who was arguably the worlds best striker at the time.

Peak Torres was unstoppable.
