It was another night to forget for Manchester United in the Champions League as we crashed out of the group stage.
Kingsley Coman scored the game’s only goal after 70 minutes to win the game, but Bayern Munich already had their place booked for the last-16.
The Bundesliga champions did not need to leave second gear throughout the night as they came to Manchester and left after getting the job done.
As a result, United finish Group A in bottom place.
I have heard Erik ten Hag talk about elements of the performance that he was happy with, although there is one factor that cannot go ignored. The fact United had just one shot on target across 90 minutes – Luke Shaw’s 25-yard effort, with an xG of 0.02, after 23 minutes. This was a game we had to win!
One shot on target. 0.24xG.
In a game we had to win.

The last thing this team needs to be thrown into a second-rate competition with more midweek fixtures in the New Year. Ten Hag will be able to get a breather with his players once the festive period is out of the way, but that is due to not having to worry about extra fixtures across Europe. It’s time to sort out our domestic record.
Feels bad to admit but that wasn’t worst case scenario tonight. Being condemned to playing for months in Europa at the detriment of our league form, only not to win it, would’ve been hell. We fucked ourselves in the CL long before tonight.

Bayern fans have an impressive history of calling out the Glazers. Last night they showed their true colours once again to the delight of United fans.
‘Twenty is plenty’ and ‘£50 Glazers’ Overkill’ banners were lifted in the away end last night. The Old Trafford faithful weighed in with appreciative chants of ‘if you hate Glazers stand up’.
