It could be the end of the season for Torino defender Perr Schuurs after a knee injury he suffered against Inter Milan.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, report that there is a risk of the 23-year-old’s injury being a rupture to a cruciate ligament.

Torino defender Schuurs had to come off early in the second half of yesterday’s match against Inter.

The Dutch former Ajax defender had won the ball and was attempting to carry it through midfield.

However, shoulder-to-shoulder challenges with Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu saw Schuurs lose his balance.

They were not necessarily the firmest of challenges. But the way that Schuurs seemed to lose his footing did not look good.

The 23-year-old planted his foot very awkwardly. And this resulted in his knee bending at what appeared to be a very painful angle.

Schuurs immediately indicated that he needed to come off.

It was immediately clear that the defender was in a lot of pain. He was in tears, and required the stretcher to eventually come off.

Torino Defender Perr Schuurs Season Could Be Over After Injury Vs Inter

It was not immediately clear what the injury was for Schuurs.

But what looked very clear was that the Dutchman had suffered a fairly serious knee injury. This was clear from the amount of pain that he was visibly in.

If the injury is a rupture to a cruciate ligament, than Schuurs could be out for a matter of months.

This would be a major blow for Torino.

The Granata are already suffering a bit of an injury crisis in defense. Kofi Djidji has himself missed the start of this season with a serious knee injury.

And Schuurs is a key man for Torino.

The Dutchman had put in a solid shift against Inter before having to come off.

The Nerazzurri themselves have reportedly targeted Schuurs. As have teams from the Premier League like Liverpool and Manchester United, as well as Paris Saint-Germain.
