Salernitana are on the verge of welcoming free agent Jerome Boateng, adding another veteran to Filippo Inzaghi’s squad.

The Granata have started to develop a reputation as a club willing to host experienced winners at the tail end of their career, with recent examples including Franck Ribery and Guillermo Ochoa.

Boateng has been a free agent since his contract with Olympique Lyon expired at the end of last season. Off-pitch legal troubles have plagued the centre back over the last few years, majorly disrupting his career.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Salernitana are almost ready to welcome Boateng on a free transfer, just waiting for Matteo Lovato’s move to Torino to be finalised.

The Granata are in a difficult spot heading into the 22nd round of Serie A, sitting bottom of the league table with just 12 points, securing just two wins over the last five months.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Ribery was involved in the talks with Boateng, working to convince his former Bayern Munich teammate to make the jump to Salerno.
