Manchester City’s midfield general Rodri believes his team’s best is yet to come this season. If history is any guide, the belief of the Spanish international may be proven correct. Previous seasons have seen Manchester City surge to claim Premier League titles

Pep Guardiola’s side have traditionally been at their best as the stakes rise late in the season. They will be hoping for history to repeat itself this campaign. City are currently in the thick of a three team Premier League title race with Arsenal and Liverpool. All three teams have claims to win the Premier League this season. The world champions will be hoping their experience at this stage of the season can hand them a crucial edge in this season’s title race.

The champions ability to string together sizable winning runs has formed the foundation of previous seasons Premier League wins. They famously overhauled an 8 point deficit last season to beat Arsenal to the Premier League title last season. Manchester City also went on a 14-game winning run to beat Liverpool by a point to the league title in the 2018/19 season. It is a trait that Pep Guardiola’s side will be hoping to use to their advantage again this campaign.

In an interview published with Yahoo Sport, Rodri believes that the best is yet to come from Manchester City this season. He believes past experiences and the demands of Pep Guardiola and the players will see City rise to the challenge at the end of the season. Rodri said, “It’s going to be good for us, this break. You will see the best version of this team at the end of the season. Always it happens because of the manager, because of the standards of the club, because of ourselves and the ways we have learned over these years. This is what we want to do.”

If history is to repeat itself, Manchester City will have to be at their best during the final stages of this season. They will face Arsenal in a crucial Premier League fixture after the international break. That could be the ideal setting for Manchester City to click into gear as they seek to win a fourth consecutive Premier League title and claim their place in English football history.
