Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed that Sergio Ramos will leave the club after this season as a free agent.

“Paris Saint-Germain salutes Sergio Ramos, who is set to leave the capital after two seasons in the club’s colours,” the club wrote in a statement.

Ramos joined PSG during the 2021 summer transfer window. The two sides reached an agreement on a two-year free transfer deal that did not include any option for a third year.

Injuries marred Ramos’ first season at PSG. Overall, he took part in a mere 12 matches in the 2021-2022 Ligue 1 campaign, and he did not play in a single UEFA Champions League fixture last season.

Ramos has managed to turn it around in his second year with the reigning Ligue 1 champions. He has played in 32 fixtures in Ligue 1 play, and he has put together multiple promising performances this season. For one, he starred in PSG’s Ligue 1 away win over Marseille in February, where he recorded five clearances and two tackles.

Ramos will soon be on the lookout for a new home in world football. It remains to be seen just which club will bring in him on a free transfer deal.
