Pochettino will have 'no influence' over finances of Mason Mount offer

Now that Mauricio Pochettino has been all but confirmed as the new Chelsea manager, there’s increasing speculation about what he might get up to once he’s in place.

The last couple of days have seen intense rumours about Mason Mount, with Pochettino apparently very keen on the midfielder, who looks set to be sold this summer after the club were unable to agree a new contract with him.

Football Insider today add some further interesting details. They say that while Pochettino “would love” to keep Mount at Chelsea and will push for that to happen, he will also have “no influence on the financial offer made to Mount.”

That shouldn’t be too surprising – you don’t often see managers closely involved with the actual figures – but hopefully Pochettino can at least make it crystal clear to those with control of the purse strings just how important he considers Mount to be to his project.
