Newcastle eyeing Torino defender Schuurs

Newcastle United are being linked with the purchase of a Serie A defender this summer.

The Magpies are said to be chasing Dutch international center-half Perr Schuurs.

The 23-year-old is wanted at Serie A side Torino, but the Italians may not be able to hold onto him if they receive a high offer from the English side.

The Mail states that Magpies boss Eddie Howe sees Schuurs as someone who can start regularly for his side, but also play the role of backup when needed.

Newcastle will play Champions League football next season, which makes them a very attractive proposition for new signings.

The club are set to splash the cash thanks to their Saudi Arabian owners.
