Inter Milan legend Diego Milito feels that the Nerazzurri deserved more than they got for their performance against Man City in the Champions League final.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, the 2010 Treble-winner gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s Champions League campaign during the season just gone.

It was Champions League heartbreak for Inter as they fell at the final hurdle.

The Nerazzurri came up against a team who many regard as the strongest in all of Europe in the form of Manchester City. And, against the Premier League champions, Inter were hardly overrun.

Rather, the Nerazzurri gave a good account of themselves. Throughout the Champions League season Inter had overperformed and proven their doubters wrong.

However, none of that meant much given the final result.

City scored the only goal of the match as the Nerazzurri spurned a number of good chances to equalize late on.

As a result, Inter will have to look back on the match and rue what might have been.

Diego Milito: Inter Milan Deserved More Vs Man City

For his part, legendary former Nerazzurri striker Milito feels that his old team could have gotten more.

The Argentine feels that Inter could very well have won the final against City. After what was already an outstanding campaign in the Champions League, they could have gone all the way in his eyes.

“I think Inter had a great season, both in the Champions League and in the Copa Italia,” he said.

“And in the end they also came back in the league.”

“Above all, their journey in the Champions League was fantastic,” he added. “They came so close to bringing the trophy back to Milano.”

And of the upcoming campaign, Milito gave the view that “I see the conditions being there for another great season.”

Of the final against City, the former striker said that “They deserved more. They limited a great team in Man City.”
