Napoli are aiming for their first Serie A win at home since the end of September in this evening’s match against Inter Milan.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

This season, Napoli’s home form has been one of their biggest issues in their stuttering title defense.

The Partenopei have grabbed a number of important wins away from the Stadio Armando Diego Maradona. Most recently, there was last weekend’s statement win away to Atalanta.

But in Naples, it has been tough going for the reigning Italian champions.

The most recent league match that Napoli played at the Maradona was their shock loss against Empoli before the November international break.

That was the match that saw Rudi Garcia sacked after only a few months in charge.

There have also been draws against teams like Genoa and Bologna. And a loss against Lazio.

Whilst Napoli have been very convincing in away matches, they have simply failed to get going at the Maradona.

Napoli Aiming For Third Serie A Home Win Vs Inter

This evening, Walter Mazzarri takes charge of his first ever Napoli match at the Maradona under its current name.

And it will be one of his team’s toughest challenges, at least on paper.

Napoli host Inter, who are hoping to get back their place at the top of the table after Juventus overtook them with a victory over Monza.

And if the Napoli coach is hoping for assistance from the home crowd, that may be wishful thinking.

The fact that the most recent home win in Serie A for Napoli came against Udinese on September 27 is a stark reminder of how much more erratic their home form is than last season.

But on the other hand, Mazzarri has the chance to make a statement.

The veteran coach will undoubtedly hope to reinvigorate the mood at the Maradona.
