Matteo Ruggeri has fended off the competition and provided brilliant performances on the left flank for Atalanta, drawing the attention of Milan, which already wanted him last summer to deputize Theo Hernandez.

According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri offered €8M between the fee for the loan and the option to buy. The Bergamaschi rebuffed them because they thought the bid was too low.

Milan will continue to track Ruggeri ahead of a possible summer pursuit. However, his price tag is growing steadily. He has logged four assists and scored once in the first ten matches. He had a limited role in the past campaign, where he featured just 15 times, also because he suffered a major thigh injury in April.

The youngster has five caps with U-21 Italy. According to Tuttomercatoweb, La Dea believe his valuation will rise to €18/20M by the end of the year. They could be ready to sell, turning yet another profit on one of their youth products, if somebody tendered as much. Instead, the Rossoneri could pounce on Juan Miranda in January if he cost €5/6M, Gianluca Di Marzio relays.

Our Take on Ruggeri and Milan

He showed promise in the past and managed to put it all together and stay healthy so far, taking an extra step. If he keeps going, he’ll be overqualified and too pricey to be a backup even in a top team.
