Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani confirmed the transfer status of the club’s three top stars ahead of the summer window.

The Rossoneri are preparing for an important summer as they look to close the gap to rivals and champions-in-waiting Inter, keen to bolster their squad with a new striker, a backup left back and some cover in other areas of the squad.

Milan surprised many fans last summer when they sold Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United for around €70m and there has been some concern regarding the status of star players like Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan amidst various transfer rumours.

Milan transfer position on stars

Speaking on page two of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport, Furlani was asked about the club’s position regarding Leao, Hernandez and Maignan.

“Rafa has a release clause of €175m but before that he has the desire to stay at Milan. He’s happy here, he would be the one asking to leave but he really doesn’t want to. Long live Leao at Milan.

“They have contracts until June 2026. There is talk of selling or buying but often it’s the players who decide their future. Theo and Mike are two champions, we hope they stay with us for as long as possible and make the difference again.”

Whilst Leao has seemingly taken himself off the market, Hernandez and Maignan have both continued to be linked with top clubs around Europe including Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
