Manchester United make risky U-turn over potential Premier League transfer raid
Yukihito Taguchi-USA TODAY Sports

Manchester United reportedly considered a transfer move for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford earlier this season.

However, they have since cooled their interest since the England international signed a new contract at Goodison Park, with Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag now keen to keep the struggling David de Gea as his number one for next season, according to the Sun.

De Gea hasn’t been at his best recently, but it seems Man Utd still have him in their plans, with the Spanish shot-stopper undoubtedly a legendary figure at Old Trafford after a long and successful career.

Still, it seems risky not to try replacing De Gea as he now looks past his best, with the 32-year-old undoubtedly to blame for the team dropping points on various occasions this season.

Pickford could be an upgrade on De Gea after some strong form at Everton down the years, so it’s surely worth still pushing for him this summer.

Ben Jacobs has also linked Pickford with Chelsea and Tottenham in yesterday’s exclusive CaughtOffside column.
