Manchester City will pay their respect to Manchester United and England legend Sir Bobby Charlton at Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford says Pep Guardiola. The pre-game build-up has been marred by a video of 5 young Manchester City fans singing songs about the death of the football icon. Two fans have subsequently been banned from attending matches and one charged by police following the video.

When asked about that in his pre-game press conference and City’s intention to honour the England and Manchester United legend and of the video from earlier in the week Pep Guardiola said: “They don’t represent us. Alcohol makes bad things in people. Mike Summerbee going to Old Trafford to sign the book represents us. We have huge respect to Manchester United and we prove it, losing or winning. We have a lot of respect, especially for an iconic figure like Sir Bobby Charlton. Tomorrow we will be part of that. We send our condolences to United and English football.” Pep Guardiola also signed the book of condolence for Sir Bobby Charlton.

Manchester City legend Mike Summerbee OBE visited Old Trafford earlier this week to pay respect to Sir Bobby Charlton. It was a touching tribute to the football legend as he signed the book of condolence and paid respect to an absolute legend of the game.

There will be a minute of applause before kick-off and other tributes to pay respect to Sir Bobby Charlton. It will be a touching moment before the local rivals renew their rivalry on Sunday.
