Manchester City has a plan to have Jack Grealish fit and firing for the run home
Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Manchester City has a plan to have Jack Grealish fit and firing for the run home. The England international has been out with a groin injury since City’s 6-2 win Luton Town in their FA fifth round tie. But he returned to the City squad for their 2-nil FA Cup quarter-final win over Newcastle at the weekend and appears set for a key role as Pep Guardiola’s side chase history.

Speaking after his team’s win at the Etihad Stadium last Saturday, Pep Guardiola revealed that there is a plan in place to have Jack Grealish ready to go after the international break. The City manager told the media: “Yeah, no he has 10 days to train. We have a plan for him to train, and he’ll be ready. So I said to the team, ‘Every three days we have a game! Every three days, three days, three days, three days’. What defines Premier Leagues, and of course what defines Champions Leagues, and everyone is going to help us, because no player can sustain every three days.”

Jack Grealish will have a vital role to play for the world champions during the remainder of the season. The winger is a key player for the treble winners, although he has had an injury interrupted campaign of late. His ability to help Manchester City maintain control of games and help out defensively has been missed, especially of late. It was sorely missed during Manchester City’s 1-all draw with Liverpool at Anfield. The hope is that Grealish can get through the block of training and be back to his best for the most important stage of the season.

With Manchester City due to face Arsenal after the international break City will be hoping to have Jack Grealish at his best for the critical Premier League clash. The treble winners do look at their best with Grealish in the starting eleven. The England international being fit and ready to go is a crucial component to Manchester City’s treble defence.
