Luis Suarez scored the winning goal in his final game for Gremio on Sunday.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona forward curled a low shot into the corner of the net from 23 yards just after half-time in a 1-0 home victory over Vasco da Gama.

Suarez had earlier assisted a goal for Rodrigo Ely but it was disallowed for offside following a VAR review.

After playing the full 90 minutes, Suarez was serenaded by Gremio supporters at the final whistle.

Suarez is now a free agent and is widely expected to join ex-Barca teammate Lionel Messi at Inter Miami ahead of the 2024 MLS season.

However, there are also rumors that Suarez may be considering retiring from soccer instead due to the toll that injuries have taken on his 36-year-old body.

Suarez recently told Radio 890 Sport: "Days before each game I take three pills, and hours before playing I get an injection. If not, I can't play. Hence the limp.

"I have to think that in maybe five years I won't be able to play five-a-side football with my friends.

"The truth is that the first steps in the morning are very painful. Anyone who sees me thinks that it is impossible for me to play a game.

"My son asks me to play with him and I simply cannot."

Suarez scored 27 goals and provided 17 assists in 53 games for Gremio.
