Many will discuss Lionel Messi’s future in the football media until he signs a contract to determine where he’ll play the 2023-24 season.

After a suspension by Paris Saint-Germainwhich is supposed to be two weeks, various outlets reported that the 35-year-old’s days in the French capital are ending once his contract expires on June 30.

The topic of Messi’s future was front and center during the Laureus World Sports Awards when reporters asked former FC Barcelona and Real Madrid star Luis Figo about his thoughts on the Argentine’s future and the possibility of heading to Saudi Arabia.

“It’s speculation but it’s a very personal decision when you change leagues,” Figo said (h/t RMC Sport). “I think when you get players like that, they have the experience, the talent and for young people it’s always a positive image. In that sense, I think it’s good but I don’t know the personal reasons.”

Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal is reportedly ramping up its efforts to convince the Argentine to leave Europe if FC Barcelona’s financial situation prohibits the veteran goal scorer from returning to Camp Nou.

MLS side Inter Miami is another possible destination for Messi alongside Barcelona and Al-Hilal, so it will be interesting to see when and where the PSG star will continue his football career.
