Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate has spoken openly about the possibility of Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram transferring to the Reds this summer.

After the signing of Argentine World Cup winner, Alexis Mac Allister last week, focus has now switched to which player might be the next through the door at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp overhauls his squad.

Over recent days and weeks, the Reds have been strongly linked with 22-year-old Thuram as well as his friend and under-21 international colleague, Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach.

Whilst reports have suggested that personal terms have been discussed by Thuram's representatives and Liverpool, there has been nothing in the media to suggest that the two clubs have been in discussion.

Interestingly however, as reported by RMC Sport, Konate has been very open about the fact that he would like to see the talented midfielder sign for Liverpool this summer.

“I would be very happy for him to come to Liverpool, I would take him under my wing and I would do everything for him to progress and become the player he wants to become. I would do everything to make him a top player".

The central defender also suggested that Thuram has nothing to fear about coming to a club like Liverpool at such a young age and believes he has huge room for growth as a player.

"If Khéphren has the opportunity to come, I think he will be surprised at the enthusiasm that will come behind him. He's still very young but he has an incredible margin for improvement so I'm confident"

The Transfer Room Verdict

There has been a lot of speculation about Thuram's rumoured move to Anfield and the comments from Konate offer more encouraging signs for Reds fans that a deal is a possibility.
