Lazio were interested in a move for Russian talent Arsen Zakharyan but are now expected to lose out to RC Strasbourg.

The Biancocelesti are in the market for a new midfielder, needing to find the right replacements for star man Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who was sold to Al-Hilal for €42 million last month.

Reports emerged last week that Lazio had submitted two offers to Dynamo Moscow for Zakharyan, prepared to pay around €13-14m for the 20-year-old midfielder.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio switched focus away from Zakharyan, allowing RC Strasbourg to move ahead in the race for his signature. The deal is being managed by super-agent Rafaela Pimenta.

In the meantime, the Biancocelesti are still working on a deal for Samuele Ricci and are hoping to lower Torino’s €30 million asking price.

Maurizio Sarri and Claudio Lotito had a long and heated meeting in Formello yesterday, where the coach shared his frustrations regarding the slow work in the summer transfer window.
