Goalkeeper Christos Mandas is undergoing his medicals with Lazio as he prepares to complete a transfer from OFI Crete.

The Biancocelesti sold backup shot stopper Luis Maximiano to Almeria earlier this month and picked up Salernitana’s Luigi Sepe on a €500,000 loan deal with no buy option attached, giving some cover to Ivan Provedel.

Lazio have also decided to pick up a third-choice option and have agreed a deal with Crete for Mandas, who impressed in the Super League Greece last season.

As announced today, Mandas is now at the Paideia clinic in Rome undergoing his medicals with Lazio ahead of his move from OFI Crete.

The 21-year-old will join in a deal worth around €1 million, signing a five-year contract, and will be included in Maurizio Sarri’s squad for the 2023-24 season.

A raw talent, Mandas will work closely with Sarri and the Lazio squad this season and could be promoted to the second-string option next season should things go well.
